Nisan = “their flight”
1) the 1st month of the Jewish calendar corresponding to March or April
נִיסָן masc. Nisan, the first month of the Hebrews, called in the Pentateuch חֹדֶשׁ הָאָבִיב which see; Nehemiah 2:1; Esther 3:7 Syr., Chald., and Arab. id. Apparently נִיסָן is for נִיצָן, or נִצָּן and denotes the month of flowers, from נֵץ, נִצָּן a flower.
