 מָלַק verb nip, nip off (head of bird; without necessarily severing it from body, compare Leviticus 5:8) (Late Hebrew id., Aramaic מְלַק,); —

Qal Perfect consecutive וּמָלַק אֶתרֿאֹשׁוֺ Leviticus 1:15, i.e. head of dove; compare וּמָלַק אֶתרֿאֹשׁוֺ מִמּוּל עָרְמּוֺ וְלֹא יַבְדִּיל Leviticus 5:8. compare Di-Ry. ᵐ5 ἀποκνίζω.

I, II. מַלְקוֺחַ, מֶלְקָחַ֫יִם, מַלְקָחַ֫יִם see לקח.

מַלְקוֺשׁ see לקשׁ. מֶלְתָּחָה see לתח.

[מַלְתָּעוֺת] see מְתַלְּעוֺת below תלע.

מַמְּגֻרוֺת see I. גור [מֵמַד] see מדד.

Gesenius' Hebrew and Chaldee Definition

מָלַק to break, to crush (einknicken), Levit. 1:15 5:8. (Cognate is the root פָּרַק, whence this has arisen, the letter r being softened into l, p, and m interchanged. Syr. and Chald. מלג vellicavit.) LXX. ἀποκνίζω, to cut off with the nail (abkneipen), contrary to the express words of the Hebrew text, יַבְדִּיל וְלֹא Leviticus 5:8.
