 [לָחַשׁ] verb whisper, charm (Late Hebrew id.; Aramaic לְחַשׁ ; Ethiopic ; whisper, see RS JPh xiv. 1885,122, possibly originally serpent-charming); —

Pi`el Participle plural קוֺל מְלַחֲשִׁים Psalm 58:6 voice of whisperers (i.e. serpent-charmers; "" חוֺבֵר תֲבָרִים).

Hithpa`el whisper together, Imperfect יִתְלַחֲשׁוּ with עַל Psalm 41:8; Participle plural מִתְלַחֲשִׁים 2 Samuel 12:19.

Gesenius' Hebrew and Chaldee Definition

לָחַשׁ not used in Kal, sibilavit, susurravit, to whisper, Greek ψιθυρίζειν, Germ. zifcheln (all of which words are like the Hebrew, onomatopoetic), compare the kindred נָחַשׁ. ([Syr. ܠܰܚܫܶ to whisper in the ear, ܠܚܰܫ Peal, to use enchantment] Arab. لحس to lick, to hiss as a serpent, whence لَواَحسُ whisperers, i.e. serpents; Eth. ለሐሰ፡ id. also, to mutter, to speak softly; for the Gr. γρύζω, አልኆሰሰ፡ to whisper into the ear; ተልኃዋሰሰ፡ to whisper amongst themselves.)

Piel לִחֵשׁ to whisper, to mutter, specially used of the incantations of sorcerers, uttered in a mutter. Particip. מְלַחֲשִׁים enchanters, sorcerers, Psalms 58:6.

Hithpael, to whisper amongst themselves (unter fich zifcheln, flüftern), 2 Samuel 12:19 followed by עַל against any one [ Psalms 41:8 ].
