 [כְּרַז] verb denominative Haph`el make proclamation (possibly directly dependent on κηρύξ (D§ 37, p. 146 (2nd ed. 183) K l.c. M67*), but even then formed as denominative; compare ᵑ7כְּרַו, Late Hebrew כָּרַז, Syriac Aph`el, Ethpe`el, so Christian-Palestinian Aramaic, Schw Idioticon 46 Schulth Lex.97); — Perfect 3 masculine plural הַכְּ רִ֫צוּ Daniel 5:29, with עַיל person concerning.

כְּרַז Ch. to cry out, to proclaim, as a herald, Aphel id. Daniel 5:29 [Syr. ܟܪܳܙ]. (This root is widely spread in the Indo-Germanic languages, Sansc. krus, to cry out; Zend. khresiô, one crying out, a herald; Pers. ثريستن, غر شيدن to cry out; Greek κηρύσσω, also κρίζω, κράζω; Germ. kreifchen, kreißen; Engl. to cry; compare קָרָא. Amongst the Arab Christians كرز is to preach, for κηρύσσειν.)
