H. Baer; P); with vineyards Isaiah 16:8,9 = Jeremiah 48:32 (twice in verse) (where strike out יָם before ׳יַעᵐ5 Hi Gf Gie Rothst). Site dubious, compare Buhl Geogr. 264.
II. עזר (√ of following; connection with I. ׳ע dubious; compare Sabean מעדֿר 'Einfassung' SabDenkm97; Late Hebrew עֲזָרָה temple-court, ᵑ7עֲזַרְתָּא).
יַעְזֵר & יַעְזֵיר (“which Jehovah aids”), [Jaazer, [Jazer], pr.n. of a town in the tribe of Gad, near the land of the Ammonites, long subjected to the rule of the Moabites; its site was in the spot where now are the ruins called S̯r. As to the sea of Jazer (יָם יַעְזֵר Jeremiah 48:32), which is of very doubtful authority, see my observations on Isaiah 16:8.- Numbers 21:32, 32:1. Greek Ἰαζήρ, 1Ma_5:8.
