Gesenius' Hebrew and Chaldee Definition

חֲצִי הַמְּנֻחוֹת (“the midst of the places of quiet”), pr.n. m., 1 Chronicles 2:52 whence patron. חֲצִי הַמְּנַחְתִּי verse 54 1 Chronicles 2:54.

I. חָצִיר i.q. חָצֵר prop. a fence; hence poetically a habitation, dwelling, i.q. בַּיִת. Isaiah 34:13 [a dwelling for ostriches, 35:7.], “a dwelling for reeds and rushes.” Root חָצַר No. I.

II. חָצִיר m.

(1)  grass, Job 8:12, 40:15 Psalms 104:14.

(2)  a leek, Numbers 11:5. Root חָצַר No. II.

[“חָצַן an unused root, whose primary power appears to have been that of strength and firmness; compare Arab. حَصَنَ to be strong, to be fortified.”]
