patr., only ׳מַלְכֵי ז Jeremiah 25:25 (+ מלכי עֵילָם and מלכי מָדָ֑י); = Σεμβρῖται in Ethiopia (Strabo xvii, i. 786) ? compare Gf; omitted by ᵐ5; interpolation according to Kue Gie.
זִמְרִי masc. (“celebrated in song,” ἀοίδιμος, “celebrated”), [Zimri], pr.n.
(1) of a king of Israel, who slew Elah and succeeded him, B. C. 930. 1 Kings 16:9, 10 1 Kings 16:10; 2 Kings 9:31. Gr. Ζαμβρί.
(2) of the captain of the Simeonites, 25:14.
(3) 1 Chronicles 2:6.
(4) 1 Chronicles 8:36, 9:42.
(5) it seems also to be a patronymic from זִמְרָן for זִמְרָנִי. Jeremiah 25:25.
זִמְרָן (id.), [Zimran], pr.n. of a son of Abraham, and Keturah, and of an Arabian nation sprung from him, Genesis 25:2; 1 Chronicles 1:32. Perhaps Zabram, a regal city according to Ptolemy between Mecca and Medinah is to be compared with this. Compare זִמְרִי No. 5.
