(1) of a son of Ephraim; 1 Chronicles 7:23, “and he called his name Beriah, כִּי בְרָעָה הָיְתָה בְבֵיתוֹ because there was a gift to his house.” So indeed Michaëlis, Suppl. 224, but apparently more correctly, “because there was a calamity to his house,” בְּרָעָה for רָעָה with Beth essentiœ, as it is called (p. 99, A ); compare verses 22 1 Chronicles 7:22, 23 1 Chronicles 7:23LXX. ὅτι ἐν κακοῖς ἐγένετο ἐν οἴκῳ μου, Vulg. eo quod in malis domus ejus ortus esset.
