Qal Imperfect וַיִּבְעַט Deuteronomy 32:15; 2 masculine plural תִּבְעֲטוּ 1 Samuel 2:29; — kick (only figurative of refractory Israel) Deuteronomy 32:15 (absolute); kick at (with בְּ) 1 Samuel 2:29.

Gesenius' Hebrew and Chaldee Definition

בָּעַט fut. יִבְעַט

(1)  to tread, to trample down (Ch. Peal and Pael, id., Syr. ܒܘܽܥܛܳܐܳ treading down, leaping; compare the remarks under the root בּוּס). Metaph. to contemn, to neglect (comp. Proverbs 27:7), 1 Samuel 2:29, לָמָּה תִבְעֲטוּ בְּזִבְחִי וּבְמִנְחָתִי אֲשֶׁר צִוִּתִי “why will ye neglect my sacrifices and offerings which I have commanded?” LXX. ἐπέβλεψας. Vulg. “quare calce abjecistis victimam meam et munera mea?”

(2) to kick, to kick backward, applied to the contumacy of men against God, Deuteronomy 32:15.
