ὡσεί or ὡς εἰ,
Adv. as if, as though; with various moods:
I c. opt., ἴσαν, ὡς εἴ τε πυρὶ χθὼν πᾶσα νέμοιτο Il. 2.780, cf. 11.389, Od. 9.314, etc.
2. ὡσεί τε c. subj., ἐρίλησ' ὡς εἴ τε πατὴρ ὃν παῖδα φιλήσῃ Il. 9.481.
3. ὡς εἰ or ὡς εἴ τε, c. indic., ἕπονθ' ὡς εἴ τε μετὰ κτίλον ἕσπετο μῆλα Il. 13.492; φιάλαν ὡς εἴ τις.. δωρήσεται Pi. O. 7.1.
II in comparisons, like, just as, Il. 16.59, Od. 7.36, Hes. Sc. 290, B. 11.1, S. Ant. 653, El. 234 (lyr.), etc.: c. part., Il. 5.374, Hes. Sc. 194; ὡς εἴ τε Il. 11.474; with verb supplied, Od. 14.254, Pi. P. 4.112; ὡσεί περ c. part., Hes. Sc. 189, cf. Theoc. 25.163 (nisi leg. εἰ περὶ σεῦ) ; ὡς εἴ πέρ τε with a noun, h.Cer. 215.
2. ὡς εἴτε as it were, Pi. P. 1.44.
III with Numerals, or measures of time and space, about, ὡσεὶ τριήκοντα σταδίων μάλιστά κῃ Hdt. 7.109, cf. X. HG 1.2.9, LXX Genesis 24:55, al., Matthew 14:21, al.

(b) in calculation, and with numbers, about: Matthew 14:21, Luke 3:23; Luke 9:14; Luke 9:28; Luke 22:41; Luke 22:59; Luke 23:44, Acts 2:41; Acts 10:3; Acts 19:7; ὡσεὶ λίθου βολήν , Luke 22:41.†
