Th. 24; also c. dat., σκέλει χωλός Plu. 2.739b; χωλὸς ἀμφοτέροις Luc. Tim. 20: later also of the hand, like κυλλός, χωλὸς τὴν χεῖρα Eup. 343; χεῖρα χωλὴν ἕξειν Hp. Prorrh. 2.1, cf. Pl. Lg. 794e: of animals, X. Eq. 1.5, etc.

II metaph., defective, φύσις Pl. Phd. 71e; one-sided, Id. R. 535d; βασιλεία Orac. ap. X. HG 3.3.3.

2. of metre, esp. of the χωλίαμβος (q. v.), halting, μέτρον Heph. 5.4, Demetr. Eloc. 301; also of a trochaic metre, Aristid.Quint. 1.25.
