Neuter of a compound of G5475 and G3030 (in the implied mean of whiteness or brilliancy)
χαλκολίβανον (so Suidas (but see Gaisf. edition under the word)), χαλκολιβανου, τό, more correctly χαλκολιβανος, χαλκολιβανου, ἡ (according to the reading as it ought to be restored ((but see the editions)) in Revelation 1:15 ὡς ἐν καμίνῳ πεπυρωμενη; cf. Düsterdieck's critical note (see Buttmann, 80 (69) note)), a word of doubtful meaning found only in Revelation 1:15, and

The verb is common in such phrases as P Oxy X. 1266.32 (A.D. 98) ὀμνύω Αὐτοκράτορα Καίσαρα Νέρουαν. . . μὴ ἐψεῦσθαι, ib. 1264.20 (A.D. 272) ὀμνύω τὸν ἔθιμον Ῥωμαίοις ὅρκον μὴ ἐψεῦσθα [ι, ";I swear the oath customary with Romans that I have not made a false statement"; (Edd.).
