";craftsman,"; ";designer"; (Acts 19:24, al.), is applied to God first in Alexandrian Judaism (Sap 13:1), and once in the NT Hebrews 11:10 (see Moffatt ICC ad l.). From the papyri we may cite PSI VII. 854.4 (B.C. 258–7) ἃ δὲ οὐκ ἔφασαν δ ̣ύνασθ ̣α ̣[ι ] τεχνίταις, ib. II. 152.6 (ii/A.D.) οἱ τεχνεῖται πολλὰ ψευδογραφοῦνται, P Oxy VIII. 1117.12 (c. The very rare τεχνίτευμα ";work of art,"; ";art,"; is found in OGIS 51.12 (ii/B.C.) ἐκτενῶς ἑαυτὸν συνεπιδιδοὺς εἰς τὸ συναύξεσθαι τὸ τεχνίτευμα, cf. Aristeas 78 συνεχῶς ἐφ᾽ ἕκαστον ἐπιβαλλούσης τῆς διανοίας τεχνίτευμα, ";as the mind took in one by one each detail of the execution"; (Thackeray), with reference to the completion of gold and silver bowls.
