πρόσκλησις, προσκλησεως, ἡ,
1. a judicial summons: Aristophanes, Plato, Demosthenes.
2. an invitation: μηδέν ποιῶν κατά πρόσκλησιν, 1 Timothy 5:21 L Tr marginal reading; this reading, unless (as can hardly be doubted) it be due to itacism, must be translated by invitation, i. e. the invitation or summons of those who seek to draw you over to their side (see quotations in Tdf. at the passage Cf. πρόσκλισις.)

";a fever."; The Lucan combination with συνέχεσθαι (Luke 4:38, Acts 28:8) is paralleled in P Oxy VI. 896.33 (A.D. 316) ὁρ ̣ῶμ ̣ε ̣[ν αὐτὸ ]ν ̣ το [ῦτ ]ον κ ̣λ ̣ε ̣[ινή ]ρ ̣η ̣ν ὄντα πυραι (= ε)τίοις. . . συνεχ ̣[όμενον, ";we saw the man himself lying on a bed seized with a slight . . . fever"; (Edd.) : note the technical plur. on which Hobart (p. 52) comments.
Πυρετός in the sing, is found in the heathen charm, BGU III. 956 (iii/A.D.), invoking protection ἀπὸ πα [ν ]τὸς ῥίγου <ς > καὶ πυρετοῦ, cf. P Oxy VI. 924.6 (iv/A.D.), ib. VIII. 1151.35 (v/A.D.?), and the curse Syll 890 (= .3 1239).20 (ii/A.D.) φρείκῃ [κ ]α [ὶ ] πυρετῷ καὶ τετα [ρ ]ταίῳ καὶ ἐλέφα [ν ]τ [ι : cf. also ib. 891 (= .3 1240).10 (ii/A.D.). For the form πυρεσσός (not in LS8) see the fragment of a Gemellus letter P Fay 248 (c. A.D. 100).
