κῠλ-ισμα, ατος, τό,
I roll, Sm. Ezekiel 10:13, Hippiatr. 79, 117; κ. κανθάρου, ball of dung rolled by a beetle, PMag.Berol. 1.223.
II = κυλίστρα, Hippiatr. 8; v.l. for sq., 2 Peter 2:22.
κύλισμα, κυλισματος, τό (κυλίω, which see), thing rolled: with epexegetical genitive βορβόρου, rolled (wallowed) mud or mire, 2 Peter 2:22 (R G L Tr marginal reading). The great majority take the word to mean 'wallowing-place', as if it were the same as κυλίστρα (Vulg. in volutabro luti). But just as τό ἐξέραμα signifies the vomit, thing vomited, and not the place of vomiting; so τό κύλισμα denotes nothing else than the thing rolled or wallowed. But see (the following word, and) βόρβορος.
STRONGS NT 2946: κυλισμός κυλισμός, κυλισμου, ὁ, equivalent to κυλισις, a rolling, wallowing (Hippiatr., p. 204, 4; (cf. Proverbs 2:18 Theod.)): εἰς κυλισμμον βορβόρου, to a rolling of itself in mud (to wallowing in the mire), 2 Peter 2:22 T Tr text WH. See the preceding word.

The form κυλισμός, ";rolling,"; which is read in the best texts of 2 Peter 2:22, is found in Proverbs 2:18 (Theod.). For κύλισμα, as in the TR, cf. Ezekiel 10:13 (Symm.), where, however, the word has its proper meaning, ";something rolled round,"; rather than a ";rolling-place"; as in the Petrine passage. In P Hib I. 110 (iii/B.C.) certain documents are described as κυλιστοί, ";rolls."; According to the editors the difference from ἐπιστολαί, which are also mentioned, was ";perhaps one of size rather than of contents"; : cf. also Preisigke 1.17 (iii/A.D.) κυλιστοὺς ἱματίων δέκα.
