I
1. without or beyond measure, immense, κακόν Simon. 37.16 codd.; opp. μετρητός, Pl. Lg. 820c. Adv. -τρως Id. Phd. 86c, etc.: neut. pl. as Adv., Babr. 11.10.
2. immoderate, in moral sense, Pl. Lg. 690e, etc. Adv. -τρως X. Cyr. 1.6.34.
3. neverceasing, τέττιγες Simon. 174.
4. disproportionate, Pl. Ti. 87e: Sup. -ότατος most unequal, Cleom. 1.7.
II without metre, prosaic, opp. ἔμμετρος, Arist. Po. 1451b1, D.H. Comp. 3, etc. Adv. -τρως unmetrically, Critias 4; not in metre, Poll. 1.19.
III ἄμετρος, = βάτος, Dsc. 4.37.

The form ἀμέτρητος occurs in a touching sepulchral inscription regarding a husband and wife from Rhodes IMAe 149 (ii/B.C.) : ταὐτὰ λέγοντες ταὐτὰ φρονοῦντες ἤλθομεν τὰν ἀμέτρητον ὁδὸν εἰς Ἀΐδαν .
