For this verb which is read in the TR of 1 Thessalonians 2:8 (but see Milligan ad l.) we may cite Bacchylides i. 62 ἶσον ὅ τ᾽ ἀφνεὸς ἱμείρει μεγάλων ὅ τε μείων παυροτέρων, ";the rich man yearns for great things, as the poorer for less"; (Jebb).
