εὐκαιρία, εὐκαιρίας, (εὔκαιρος), seasonable time, opportunity: ζητεῖν εὐκαιρίαν, followed by (ἵνα Buttmann, 237 (205)), Matthew 26:16; (Luke 22:6 Lachmann marginal reading); by τοῦ with an infinitive Luke 22:6. (the Sept.; in Greek writings first in Plato, Phaedr., p. 272 a.)

εὐκαιρία is found, as in Matthew 26:16, Luke 22:6, in BGU II. 665 ii. 4 (i/A.D.) εὐκαι [ρί ]αν δὲ οὐκ ἔχει, ib. I. 46.18 (A.D. 193) ἐὰν εὐκαιρίας τύχω τοῦ εὑρεῖν, ἀποσπάσω, P Oxy I. 123.3 (iii/iv. A.D.) εὐκαιρη (l. ία) τις καὶ νῦν τοῦ ἀνερχομένου πρὸς ὑμᾶς, ib. X. 1300.2 (v/A.D.) εὐκερίαν εὑρὼν διὰ τοῦτον (l. εὐκαιρίαν εὗρον διὰ τούτων) μου τῶν γραμμάτων τὰ πολλὰ προσαγορεῦσαί σε.
