ἐπιβο-άω,

I fut. -βοήσομαι, Ion. and -βώσομαι (v.infr.):

1. call upon or to, cry out to, ἐ. τινὶ ὅτι.. Th. 5.65; ἐ. τινί, c. inf., call on one to do.., Id. 4.28, 7.70: c.acc., invoke, θεόν AP 9.334 (Pers.): abs., of hounds, give tongue, X. Cyn. 6.19; cry out, Arr. Epict. 4.1.14; of calling upon the dead at funerals, BMus.Inscr. 791, al. (Cnidus).

2.. utter or sing aloud over, τινί τι, μέλος χέρνιβι ἐπιβοᾶν Ar. Av. 898; shriek out besides, στέρν' ἄρασσε κἀπιβόα τὸ Μύσιον A. Pers. 1054 codd. (lyr.); ἔγχει, κἀπιβόα τρίτον παιῶνα Pherecr. 131.5.

3.. Med., cry out against, Luc. DMeretr. 12.1: Pass., τὰ ἴδια ἐπιβοώμενος cried out against in regard to private matters, Th. 6.16.

4.. applaud, acclaim, Arr. Epict. 3.23.10, M.Ant. 10.34.

Med. 168 (lyr.); θεοὺς.. ἐπιβοώμενοι, πατέρων τάφους ἐ., Th. 3.59, 67; ὅρκους καὶ πίστεις D.H. 11.49; call to aid, τὴν ἄλλην στρατιὴν ἐπεβώσαντο Hdt. 9.23, cf. 5.1: c. inf., . [τινὰ] μὴ ἀπολέσαι τὴν πατρίδα Th. 8.92.

2.. c.acc. rei, call out, Id. 7.69.

Thayer's Expanded Definition

ἐπιβοάω, ἐπιβῶ; to cry out to (cf. ἐπί, D. 2), cry out: followed by the accusative with an infinitive Acts 25:24 R G (but L T Tr WH βοάω, which see 2, and at the end From Homer, Herodotus down).
