ἐπᾰγωνίζομαι,
1. contend with, τινί Plu. Fab. 23; continue to attack, Aeschin. Ephesians 2:2.
2. c. dat. rei, contend in, εὐνοίᾳ IG 12(5).860.19 (Tenos); contend for, τῇ πίστει Judges 1:3 : lay stress on, ἐ. τῷ λόγῳ Gal. 14.246; τεκμηρίοις ἐ. Plu. Numbers 8:1-26; ἐ. τῇ λέξει τὰ ἰσοδυναμοῦντα παρατιθείς Aristid. Rh. 1p.500S.: abs., S.E. M. 3.93; exertoneself, IG 22.1343.16.
