P Leid Wvii. 27 (ii/iii A.D.) ἐλεήμων ἐν ὥραις βιαίος (l.αις). In the NT the adj. is confined to Matthew 5:7, Hebrews 2:17 : in the LXX it is frequent of God, but of men only in Psa. 111꞉4 [MT Psalms 119:4] and ter in Prov.
