Vocabulary of the Greek NT

ἑκάστοτε is unknown to the LXX, and appears in the NT only in 2 Peter 1:15; but its place in the vernacular is confirmed by P Gen I. 31.3 (A.D. 145–6) ἑκάστοτέ σοι κατ᾽ ἐπιδημίαν παρενοχλῶν, P Amh II. 78.4 (A.D. 184) βίαν πάσχων ἑκάστοτε ὑπὸ Ἑκυ ̣σεως, P Flor III. 367.20 (iii/A.D.) ἑκάστ ̣[ο ]τε [πε ]ρ ̣ι ̣̣ τ ̣η ̣̑[ς ὑγ ]είας σου πυνθάνομαι. Also Michel 543.24 (c. B.C. 200) τοὺς πρυτάνεις τοὺς ἑκάστοτε γινομένους, ";who from time to time are in office"; : cf. the frequent use of ἀεί in class. Greek, e.g. Herod, ix. 116 ὁ αἰεὶ βασιλεύων, ";the king for the time being.";
