1. tenth part, tithe, τᾶς δεκάτας δεκάταν Simon. 141.4, cf. Hdt. 2.135, etc.; τῇ θεῷ τὰς δ. ἐξαιρεθῆναι Lys. 20.24; τὰ ἐκ τῆς δ. the produce of the tenth, IG 12.91, cf. Tab.Defix. 99.14: esp. as a customs-duty, D. 20.60; δεκάτη μόσχων PTeb. 307.8 (iii A.D.).

2. δεκάτη (sc. ἡμέρα), , the tenth day, Od. 9.83, al. δ. προτέρα· ἡ πρὸ εἰκάδος, ὡς ὑστέρα· ἡ μετ' εἰκάδα, Hsch.

Like other ordinals, it is very frequently represented by the numeral letter : for a rather unusual combination cf. Preisigke 1929 (ostracon, A.D. 64) ὑπ (ὲρ ) λαογραφ (ίας ) δεκάτου (ἔτους ) Νέρωνος τοῦ κυρίου .
