English Standard Version
But the one who did not know and did what deserved a beating will receive a light beating Everyone to whom much was given of him much will be required and from him to whom they entrusted much they will demand the more

But the one who did not know and did things deserving of blows will be beaten lightly. Much will be required of everyone who has been given much. And even more will be expected of the one who has been entrusted with more.

But he that knew not, and did commit things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with few stripes. For unto whomsoever much is given (5681), of him shall be much required (5701): and to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more.
