Weiss, Leopold W.

German ophthalmologist; born at Giessen 1849. He was educated at the universities of Giessen (M.D. 1874), Tübingen, and Vienna; and from 1875 to 1877 acted as an assistant at the ophthalmological institute of the University of Heidelberg, where he received the "venia legendi" in 1876. Since 1878 he has been a practising physician in Heidelberg and in Mannheim. Among his works may be mentioned: "Zur Bestimmung der Drehpunkte des Auges" (in Graefe's "Archiv," ); "Beiträge zur Entwicklung der Myopie" (ib. ); "Ueber die Tuberculose des Auges" (ib. ); "Ueber die Abflusswege der Intraoculären Flüssigkeiten" (ib. ); and "Ueber den an der Innenseite der Pupille Sichtbaren Reflexstreif" (ib. ).
