Sobernheim, Joseph Friedrich
The 1901 Jewish Encyclopedia
German physician and author of medical works; born at Königsberg in 1803; died at Berlin Jan. 30, 1846. He published at Berlin, where he had settled as a physician, a number of medical treatises, of which the following is a list in the chronological order of their publication: "Behandlung der Krankheiten des Menschen" (1833-36), a German translation of the Latin work of Von Frank; "Allgenieine Gesundheitslehre für Alle Stände" (1834); "Handbuch der Arzeneimittellehre in Tabellarischer Form" (1836), afterward revised and reedited several times; "Deutschlands Heilquellen in Physikalischer, Chemischer und Therapeutischer Beziehung" (1836); "Praktische Diagnostic der Inneren Krankheiten" (1837); "Handbuch der Praktischen Toxicologie" (1838), in collaboration with Fr. Simon; "Specielle Pathologie und Therapie" (1839-40), adapted from the Latin work of Von Frank; "Tabulæ Pharmacologicæ Usui Medico-Practico Dictæ" (1843); and "Elemente der Allgemeinen Physiologie" (1844).
