Rumanian violinist; born at Jassy Oct. 24, 1863. He began his musical studies at the age of seven, and at ten entered the first class in violin at the Vienna Conservatorium, receiving instruction from Karl Heissler. In 1881 he made his first appearance, at a concert of the Vienna Philharmonic Society, in Goldmark's violin concerto, and shortly thereafter received an engagement as solo violinist and leader of the orchestra at the Hoftheater.
