Polish rabbi of the seventeenth century; died in 1713 at an advanced age. The name "Kalischer" indicates either that he was born in Kalisch, Poland, or that he acted as rabbi there. He was the author of: "Sha'are Ẓiyyon" (Prague, 1657), being the first and only published part of his ethical work entitled "Sha'are Ḥokmah"; "Sha'are Shamayim" (ib. 1675), miscellaneous sermons and novellæ. Kalischer included in the latter work novellæ of his father and grandfather, and of his uncle Samuel Edels.
