Amora of the third century; known especially as a transmitter of Levi's Haggadah. He also quotes a haggadic sentence by Aḥa (Lev. R. 31:5). Of his own work only a haggadic sentence, quoted by Yusta b. Shunam, is known: "The death of sinners excludes them from heaven and earth, whilst the death of the righteous establishes them in both" (Tan., Wayeẓe, 6 [ed. Buber, 1:148]).
