Palestinian amora of the fourth generation. According to his explanation of Psalms 57:5 the disasters that overtook the Jews were caused by their inclination to slander, common among them even in the time of David (Lev. R. ). There are two halakot emanating from him, one referring to the transfer of land (Yer. Ḳid. 60c), the other prescribing the rules governing the purification of utensils that have been used by Gentiles (Yer. 'Ab. Zarah 41c).
