German authoress; born at Berlin July 9, 1842. She began her literary career when quite young, and published the following novels either in book form or as serials in magazines: (1) "Gebrochene Herzen"; (2) "Russische Mysterien"; (3) "Gerächt, doch Nicht Gerichtet"; (4) "Verkaufte Frauen"; (5) "Der Mann Zweier Frauen"; (6) "Aus der Russischen Gesellschaft"; (7) "Clara"; (8)"Wandlungen." Since 1880 Ida Barber has contributed to many German and Austrian papers.
