Polish teacher; born in 1817; died at Warsaw July 10, 1886. He was educated at the rabbinical seminary of Warsaw. Elsenberg devoted all of his time to the education of Jewish children, and he published many text-books for beginners, which were introduced into the public and private schools of Warsaw. He was the first one to write in Polish a catechism of the Jewish religion and a prayer-book. He held the positions of secretary of the curator of the Warsaw public schools and of the trustees of the Reform synagogue of Warsaw.
