"SIR FRANCESCO PAOLO TOSTI (1846-1916), composer and teacher of singing, was born at Ortona, Abruzzi, April 9 1846. He began his musical studies at Naples at the age of 14. In 1876 he paid his first visit to England; five years later he was appointed teacher of singing to the Royal family and settled in England. He published many songs, which from the first had a wide success, the most famous being " Goodbye," " Ask Me No More," and " For Ever." He was knighted in 1908. He died at Rome Dec. 2 1916.
