William Brady
1910 New Catholic Dictionary
Ecclesiastical writer, born Dublin, Ireland, (1825; died Rome, Italy, 1894. He was educated at Trinity College, Dublin, and became an Anglican clergyman. While Vicar of Clonfert, County Cork, 1863, he published "The Clerical and Parochial Records of Cork, Cloyne, and Roes". He wrote also in favor of the disestablishment of the Protestant Church in Ireland, and on the passage of the act went to Rome for research in church history. He became a Catholic there in 1873, and served afterwards as correspondent for the London "Tablet." Among his published works are "Episcopal Succession in England, Scotland, and Ireland, A.D. 1400 to 1875," "Annals of the Catholic Hierarchy in England and Scotland, A.D. 1585-1876, with a Dissertation on Anglican Orders," and "Anglo-Roman Papers."
