Martyrs, died Rome, 303. Cyriacus, a Roman deacon, ministered to the Christian slaves employed at the baths of Diocletian, suffered excoriation, and was beheaded; with him were martyred Largus, Smaragdus, and twenty others. According to his apocryphal legend, Cyriacus exorcised devils from Diocletian's daughter, Artemisia, and from Jobias the daughter of Shapur, King of Persia. He is invoked as one of the Fourteen Holy Helpers. Relics at Santa Maria in Via Lata, Rome, and at Neuhausen. Feast, Roman Calendar, August 8,.
