Born in 1850 in New York; died in 1929 on Long Island, New York. Educated at Saint Francis Xavier's College, and Columbia Law School, he was admitted to the New York Bar in 1871. He was a member of the Board of Directors of the Catholic Encyclopedia, member and former president of Saint Francis Xavier Alumni Association, member and former vice-president of the United States Catholic Historical Society, member of the Bar Association of the city of New York. He wrote a Treatise on the Law of Landlord and Tenant (New York, 1884), and was a frequent contributor to law journals and historical magazines. He was a nephew of Charles O'Conor, the famous lawyer and candidate for the Presidency.
