Paris, France. Perhaps the most famous of all royal chapels. Built in 1248 by Saint Louis of France to house the relic of the Crown of Thorns, it adjoined his palace of La Cite, and is one of the most admired and imitated structures of its kind in the world. It is now a national monument.
