John Bunyan's allegory, written in a crude and tedious style and containing a portrayal of the sovereign pontiff as "Giant Pope" who, grown old, is no longer able to harm the pilgrims. It describes the journey of "Christian" to the Celestial City. A Modern Pilgrim's Progress (London), a Catholic version of a soul's spiritual journey, written by F. Anstice Baker after her conversion, describes an Anglican woman's search Ifor the shrine of Truth, which she found in the Catholic Church.
