Widow; born Rome, Italy, 347; died Bethlehem, 404. The chief source of her life is the cor- respondence of Saint Jerome, who influenced her to follow the monastic life. After a pilgrimage to Egypt, she settled at Bethlehem with Saint Jerome and her daughter, Eustochium, and founded two monasteries. Represented prostrate before the grotto of Bethlehem, or kneeling before the holy crib with Saint Jerome and Saint Eustochium. Feast, September 30,.
