There is a special, Mass assigned for marriages. It has prayers and other parts appropriate to the occasion, and may be said on many days of the year. On very important feasts the Mass of the day is said, with a commemoration of the nuptial Mass; see also, closed times. The nuptial blessing is read by the priest after the Pater Noster of the Mass, and is never given apart from the Mass. If the woman has received it at a previous marriage it is not repeated. The bishop may give permission for it even during the closed times. It is directed rather to the woman than to the man, that "her marriage may be to her a yoke of peace, and that they may see their children's children, even to the third and fourth generation."
