Comprises all of the Hawaiian Islands; 6,435 square miles. Erected as the Vicariate Apostolic of Sandwich Islands in 1826. Name changed to the Vicariate Apostolic of the Hawaiian Islands in 1848; entrusted to the Fathers of the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary. Elevated to the diocese of Honolulu on January 25, 1941.
