Martyr, born Constantinople, 1656, died 1707. He became a priest of the Armenian Church 1683, and in 1696 was converted to Catholicity. From 1697 to 1707 he was pastor of Saint George's in Sulu Monastir. At that period a bitter persecution of Uniats in the Ottoman Empire was just beginning. Father Carboniam was arrested in April, 1707, as "rebellious to the laws of the Ottoman Empire." In November, 1707, he was again incarcerated as the result of riots of schismatic priests and laity, and condemned to death. Beatified, June 23, 1929.
