(1847-1900) Born Mountstuart, Bute, Scotland; died Dumfries House, Ayrshire. In 1868, he was received into the Church, and after settling on his estates in Scotland, lived thenceforth as a devout Catholic, munificent in his benefactions to poor missions and a generous patron of learning.
