Hymn for Lauds on January 18, feast of Saint Peter's Chair at Rome; on February 22, feast of Saint Peter's Chair at Antioch; and on June 29, feast of Saints Peter and Paul, when the hymns Beate Pastor Petre, clemens accipe and Egregie Doctor Paule, mores instrue are combined into one hymn. It is attributed to Elpis, Boethius's wife, who died about 493. The English title given is from the translation by T. Ball.
