(630-680) Queen, born England; died Chelles, France. A slave in the household of Erchinoald, mayor of the palace of Neustria, Clovis II, attracted by her beauty and prudence, married her in 649. As regent for her son, Clothaire III, she abolished trade in Christian slaves, suppressed simony, and established hospitals and numerous monasteries. Her last 15 years were spent in the Abbey of Chelles which she had founded near Paris. Relics at Chelles. Feast, January 26,; Paris, January 30,.
