(Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ) A community founded by Catherine Kaspar, at Dernbach, Germany, 1851, for the education of the young and the care of the aged and infirm. The community has 345 houses, including schools, hospitals, orphanages, and homes for the aged in Germany, the Netherlands, Czechoslovakia, England, and the United States. The provincial mother-house for America is at Donaldson, Indiana; the total number of religious Isaiah 4,008.
