Central India, erected May 22, 1913 as a suffragan of the archdiocese Agra with territory from the former Prefecture Apostolic of Rajputana. Entrusted to the Capuchins, its first bishop, Fortunatus Caumont. The name was changed to the diocese of Ajmer and Jaipur on May 13, 1955. On July 20, 2005 the diocese of Jaipur was split off, and the name was changed back. See also
