Voice of the Lord
Dominion will rest on his shoulders (Isaiah 9:6 [5]).
Religion today appeals to self-centered interests and primarily addresses the state of one's inner peace. Many cults cater to these issues. Biblical faith, while not ignoring such concerns, teaches that the solution for inner unrest is dying to the self-centered life. Peace of mind and personal well-being are the result of being involved with and loving others.
But Biblical faith concerns itself not only with the individual but with the world as a whole; redemption is seen both as personal and national. Many prophets express hope for the day God's government will be established upon the earth. This is why we pray, "May your Kingdom come, your will be done" (Matthew 6:10).
Rabbi Joseph Soloveitchik, who has perhaps ordained more rabbis than any other man in history, has captured this orientation in his book Halakhic Man. He recognized the need to bring the truth of God's revealed Word into every aspect of lifepersonal and governmental.
Let us make God's goal our ownto apply the truth of Torah to every aspect of life.
...be an instrument of Messiah's government in every realm in which I have responsibility.
