It is only one week away. Well, not even a week. Actually it is just days away. It begins Friday. What is IT? The Lexington Golf Show.

Why am I so excited about a golf show? The same reason people are excited about bridal shows, gun shows, car shows, etc. I love golf. There is no other game quite like it. It is the one game where if you do something right it's right because of your skill (or, in my case, blind squirrel luck) and not because of the faliure of another person to stop you as in the three major sports here in America.

It is the only sport where you can go to the course by yourself, meet three complete strangers, spend four hours together and become more than nodding acquaintences. It is the only sport where the honor of the competitor makes the game work as each golfer polices himself or herself on the course. It is one of very few sports where a solitary person can compete without being with anyone else.

But back to the Show. The Lexington Golf Show brings in myriads of golf companies offering great buys on equipment. It also brings in golf resorts with offers for free rounds of golf for examining their resort. It is also the place where I buy my yearly stock of the Lung Card. The Lung Card is a booklet which contains reduced or complimentary greens fees at hundreds of golf courses in several states. It is kind of like a personal country club membership as it allows pasage on some of the best courses around.

And it benefits research into respiratory problems by using the monies garnered from the sales of the booklets. Not only do I get to play some great courses at a fraction of the regular cost I also help to find a cure for certain respiratory ailments. It is not quite as great as being a Christian (nothing is) but it carries much satisfaction. That is the neat thing of being in Christ.

In Christ I have salvation. In Christ I have peace of mind. In Christ I have hope. In Christ I have blessings. However, there is one other thing I have in Christ. "Brethren, if anyone among you wanders from the truth, and someone turns him back, let him know that he who turns a sinner from the error of his way will save a soul from death and cover a multitude of sins." James 5:19, 20 When you're benefitting others that's when you know you're in Christ.
