Resource Toolbox

Last evening I had the privilege to view the tool collection of a friend of mine. I am not talking about Shopsmiths and digital saws. I am talking about tools from current times to way back. They are all kept in a garage. There are literally thousands of tools hanging in this man's garage. Many of them are not your average wrench.

I was shown wrenches for every purpose you could imagine. If there was a need to remove a nut a wrench was invented to accomplish the job. Everything from the forerunner of the Crescent (R) wrench to old time buggy wrenches were found hanging on racks and racks of wrenches. From calipers to ice tongs, honing stones to an actual manually operated single edge razor blade honing machine; you name it and it could be found in that garage.

There were even other items of interest. One that caught my eye was a non-returnable Coke bottle that was very rare. Why? Because all the others were thrown away. There were many items from locally owned old bottling plants, including a one-of-a-kind J. D. Cade crockery jug. Bottles and boxes of old items that have never been opened adorned shelves and cases in one section of the garage.

One item that I saw out of the corner of my eye was a Wade and Butcher straight razor. Made in Sheffield, England, they were the standard in the better barber shops years ago. Each tool and item was rare and valuable, some even into the thousands of dollars. However, you probably have something even more valuable in your own home and rarely do what makes it valuable; read it. You have the Word of God in which is the perfect law of the Lord.

"The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul; the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple; the statutes of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart; the commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes; the fear of the Lord is clean, enduring forever; The judgements of the Lord are true and righteous altogether. More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold." Psalms 19:7-10 The Bible is not a collections of great sayings, it is a tool to help make us like Christ.
